I ROUND - UP OF LOCOMOTIVES. Display or New and Old Engines In the Lackawanna yard Yesterday - The Eye Opener of a Generation Ago and the Big New Monsters. There was an unusually big roundup oif engines at the Lackawanna yards yesterday. The new ones made a notable display, and visitors to inspect them were plenty. Of the big passenger locomotives Intended for fast service, 1002, 1005 and 1007 were in off the road, while of the heavy freighters there were six on show. A comparative stranger in the round house was the combination engine and car used by officials for Inspection trips along the road. It is numbered !J1t, and closely resembles In size and shape a short electric car. There is a small cow catcher at each end. The boiler and engineer's place is at the back. The smoke stack is at the rear, but does not stand up above the level of the roof. The front compartment is small, but comfortably fitted with revolving chairs. It is not as large or as unique in its looks as the combination used by Mr. Hallstead for observation purposes when he was with the road., This latter engine and car that has been idle in the round house since Mr. Hallstead's retirement, has been sent to the shops for reconstruction.
