Bad Check Artist Passes Two Here Two no-account checks were passed in lola Wednesday by an unidentified man who was descrlbied by the police as a smooth operator. In both Incidents he apparently knew the first name of a person in the store or well known to the proprietor. Copening Jewelers were given a $15 check as down jxayment on a more expensive watch^ The check waS drawn on the lola State Bank and allegedly signed by Claude Metcalfe. A check for $20 and drawn upon the same bank was taken by Gene Sige. Sigg Brothers Service Station, in payment of gasoline gasoline and oil. This document was allegedly signed by R. P. Metcalfe. Police believe the man drove out of town immediately after he left Sigg Bros.
