C. A. P. Flyer Killed in Crash Near Independence Independence, Kas.. March 1. (AP)—Garnett Dean Cox, 25, Wichita, Wichita, was killed and Harold E. Shigley, 23, Wichita, critically injured in a plane crash two miles northeast of Oak Valley. Cox and Shigley. Civilian Air Patrol Patrol fliers at Wichita, had flown to Winfield and then to Independence. Shigley then circled the farm of O. E. Shigley where his parents were visiting. The plane was seen to fall from about 200 feet. Shigley's mother mother was first to reach the scene. . Cox died in the crash. Shigley, unconscious, was brought to Mercy hospital. Cox is survived by his widow, a daughter, 2, and an Infant son. -He was employed at the Beech Aircraft company, Wichita.
