Windfall Soldier Receives Discharge CAMP IRWIN, CALIF. — Private First Class Gene W. Cottingham, grandson of Mrs. Grace McDowell of Windfall, Ind., has been separated separated from active duty with the Army at Camp Irwin; Cal^f., following completion of 24 months service. Pfc. Cottingham was inducted into into the Army in January 1951. After receiving his basic training at Camp Pickett, Va., he was assigned assigned tc the 325th Tank Battalion. In June of the same year the 325th was transferred to The' Armored Combat Training Center at Camp Irwin to supervise the instruction given to the advanced tank trainees of the Army. Since his arrival, Cottingham Cottingham has been assigned for duty with the Battalion S-3 '( plans and operations) section. . - .Pfc. Cottingham graduated from High School in Windfall, where he was active in varsity athletics, in 1947. Prior to entering the service he managed a used-car agency in .Windfall.
