taken care of. Fortune" has no more show of being appointed minister to Hayti than the American clown C. H. J. Taylor has. He will join the the Alliance party. The Grand Army encampment will not meet in this city. A protest will be filed against Capt. Kelly. The District laboring men are v W. C. Chase is one of the ablest colored Southern leaders of the race. Mr. Chase has done yeoman service for the Republican party and deserves a fitting recognition. If he had been appointed one of the assessors of the District of Columbia, Columbia, it would have been very pleasing pleasing to the majority of the colored people here.
