Pfc. J. C. Friery Killed in Action In Pacific Area i’fc. J. C. Friery, Jr., wab killed in action in the Southwest Pacific area on October 20, hla parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Friery, Sr., of Dayton, were notified Friday. Private Private Friery, 27, had been overseas with an infantry regiment for the imst 25 months. The infantryman had seen action at (Juadalcanal^ New (Juinea, Now (leorgia New Caledonia and Toul- age. In s» rvice since February, 1941, Private Friery trained at Camp Hood and i'anjp Shelby, .Miss. He worked for the State Highway Department Department in Liberty, after receir- in^ his education in the Madisonville Madisonville Junior High School and Dayton Dayton High School. Survivors besides his parents and one sister, Jennie Sue Friery of Houston; and six brothers, E. F., S. A., R C., O. L, atid C. B. Friery of Houston, and T. E. Fil- ery of Palacios. I I i i
