Police Vow To Solve Case Several Suspects F ound In Murder Investigation By KEN BUCKLEY NEWS State Desk AUGUSTA State police envision a long drawn out investigation into the summer murder of an . Ogunquit and Joliet, 111. teenager. But the Aug. 9 murder of Mary Catherine Olenchuk, 13, is anything but closed, according to State Police Det. Sgt Jerry Boutilier. intensive investigation with the cooperation of numerous out-of-state police departments has uncovered a long list of leads and good auspects, the sergeant said. One individual amid a long list of other . suspects has a lengthy record of violations Involving teenagers, according to Sgt. Boutilier, who expects the Investigation to lead to some out-of-state travel eventually. Sgt. Boutilier has been assigned to head up the investigation into the two-month-old murder with the assistance of State Police Det. Sherwood Bas-ton, who is- located in the Ogunquit area. : The Olenchuk girl failed to report ' home ! Aug. 9 and her mother, the wife of Brig. Gen. Peter Olenchuk, notified police who in turn located the girls bicycle beneath an archway at the Lookout Hotel, about 200-yards from her home. After an intensive search lasting 14-days, the little , girls badly decomposed body was located beneath a pile of hay in a barn at Kennebunk. The girl had been strangled with a piece of rope. . The sole witness to the ( girls abduction was an elderly ' woman who viewed the episode from the third story window above the archway. The woman saw the girl talking to a man in a maroon car. Then a few minutes later saw the girl being driven away. Sgt Boutilier said that a long Hli; ' ' list of possible suspects had to be checked out and that the case wont be closed until the task is finished. . The Olenchuks have spent many summers at the popular Southern Maine summer colony. The girls father is in charge of an Army ammunition supply facility in Illinois. - FRUITFUL SEARCH The first white man to set foot in Wisconsin had set out in 1634 in search of China.
