Edmund Gwenn and Georges Metaxa, "The Doctor Takes A Wife" is a sure cure for the blues! Important to the -splitting effects of this gay, giddy new comedy is the delightfully delirious story which the players present under the accomplished baton of Alexander Hall, whose -paced tempo made memorable such other fine Alms as "The Amazing Mr. Williams" and "There's Always 8 Woman." Miss Young's metamorphosis from ravishingly radiant leading lady to riotously unrestrained comedienne is a spectacular highlight in a spectacularly hectic hit. As a young author who writes books in praise of spinsterhood. Miss Young brings to the screen an entirely new conception of herself, as an actress, and of career women in general. And fireworks result when America's favorite spinster suddenly "marries" a young doctor to whom all women are poison, with the fond exception of his own fiancee! Milland, as the young doctor. is forced by circumstances to bill and coo in public with the "wife" he has taken, holding for more private moments the battles between them. As though this glowing picture of felicitous domesticity were in sufficient, it definitely is -to evoke 8 new high in audience laughter, the Cinema Theatre's comedy has additional complications, all of them delightful. Gardiner is seen as Miss Young's publisher and would-be husband who, to protect his lovely author's name and reputation, forces her to "marry" a reluctant Milland. He then sits around and does his best to smash the "marriage" because he wants to marry the girl himself. Gail Patrick is Milland's fiancee, she provides additional complications. while Edmund Gwenn, as Milland's decorous father, earnestly believes his son is married. and happily, and wanders about with "bless you, my children" attitude which materially enchances the ABOVE THE RICH WALNUT wainscoting that provides the finish of the lower portion of the side walls of the Cinema Theatre the plaster finish is of warm tint, and the decoration includes a large mural panel on each side. hilarity of the comedy. The side walls of the auditorium are further embellished by large panels, murals running the length of the sides. The lower portion of the side walls is finished in a rich walnut wainscoting. The entire decorative treatment of the auditorium is a succession of novel effects preserving a general geometrical harmony. The fixtures are of aluminum, both direct and indirect lighting, and etched glass of delicate shades permits a beautiful, soft effect. It is interesting to note in connection with the decoration of the auditorium that Martin Miller, of Miller Studios, who executed the plastering contract, performed A remarkable feat the entire work of plastermpleting new theatre in the record time of one week. One of the many distinctive features incorporated in the Cinema, is the system of air conditioning. Cooled in the Summer by being drawn over sheets of water supplied by the artesian well that provides about 450 gallons of water per minute, the air that is distributed through the theatre from overhead ducts is filtered and reaches the auditorium absolutely pure, and is completely changed every seven minutes. In this way the air by means of the well is properly humidified according to nature's fashion, assuring patrons the ulticomfort during the hot Summer days and nights.
