Rente K. Whetten ITHACA, N.Y. - Funeral services for Renee Kathleen Beer Whetten, 27, of 170 Meadowbrook, Ithaca, who died at her home Wednesday, will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont Second Ward Chapel, 555 E. 3230 N., Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary, Provo, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the chapel prior to services. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills. Mrs. Whetten had lived in Provo for several years. She was born July 5, 1946 in Long Beach, Calif., to Melvin D. and Doris L. Jones Beer. On Dec. 12, 1987 she married David A. Whetten in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her husband is a former Provo resident and his parents live here but his father is serving as an LDS Church mission president in Mexico City. She received her early schooling in Othello, Wash., and was a graduate of Brigham Young University in elementary education. She taught school at Edgemont Elementary and in Ithaca. In August, 1971 she and her husband moved to Ithaca where he is working towards his doctorate degree at Cornell University. Active in the LDS Church, she was in the presidency of the YWMIA and Relief Society in the BYU 10th Ward, and in the Ithaca Ward Relief Society. Survivors include her husband, one son and one daughter, Brian David and Shauna Renee Whetten, both of Ithaca; her parents, Othello; a grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Jones, Long Beach; one brother and four sisters, Stephen Beer, Julie Beer and Teressa Beer, all of Othello; Mrs. Ronald (Norma Jean) Chamberlain of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Shryl (Jo Rita) Nielsen of Boston.
