William Roland “Bill” Barcome, 89, Howard, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Angel’s Angel’s Touch Assisted Living in De Pere. He was born May 25, 1925, in Oconto Falls to the late Earl and Eleanore (Neumann) Barcome. Barcome. Bill attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Grade School and graduated graduated from Central Catholic Catholic High School, Class of 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 6, 1943. After After completing his service, Bill worked as a salesman for Nabisco Corporation, retiring in the late 1980’s. On May 19, 1945, Bill married Shirley Lambert in San Francisco, CA, where he was stationed in the Navy. They celebrated celebrated 69 years of marriage marriage in 2014. Bill was active in the community, serving 13 years on the Brown County Planning Commission and working on the Remedial Action Plan for the Fox River and the bay. In recent years, he volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Store. He was a kindhearted man whose passion was helping helping others, and many ben- e^tted from his generosity and the giving of his time and talents. Bill’s hobbies hobbies were metal detecting, rock collecting, traveling to many interesting destinations destinations in the U.S. with his wife, working on craft projects of various types, composing his own music and playing the piano. He also was an amateur magician, magician, and in retirement often put on magic shows to entertain nursing home residents. Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dawn (Robert) Delacenserie and Monie (Robert) Jonet; nieces nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Father Father Earl Barcome, and Dr. Donald Barcome; and a sister, Naomi Schaetz. Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Glendale Ave.), from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt odiciating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
