tog Lawyers reveal plans to implicate others By Paul Srubas and Anne Klemm Press-Gazette Press-Gazette Press-Gazette Defense lawyers have begun laying laying groundwork for the possibility that someone other than the six defendants was responsible for the 'death of Tom Monfils. ; Six are charged with being party to homicide in Monfils' death: Keith Kutska, Mike Piaskowski, Bey Moore, Mike Him, Dale Basten and Mike Johnson. But defense lawyers, eager to plant doubt about the involvement pf their individual clients, are using witnesses to drop hints that someone other than the six could have been involved in Monfils' death Nov. 21, 1992, in the James River paper mill. A lawyer hinted Wednesday that a former millworker who faces no charges in the case might have somehow used a forklift in the inci- inci- dent, in which Monfils allegedly was beaten, and his weighted body was dropped into a pulp vat. : Lawyers also hinted through questioning Tuesday that another millworker who has been involved in legal action connected to the case might have been a bully. In the eight days of the trial so far, defense lawyers spent much of their energy trying to cast doubts on reports that their clients were near the scene at the time of Monfils' death. Hirn's lawyer, Gerald Boyle, said last week he'd present an alternative theory on how Monfils died. Boyle and other lawyers did some of that this week: 'Wiener forklift theory Johnson's lawyer, Eric Stearn, on Wednesday asked forensic pathologist Dr. Helen Young whether anyone had ever men- men- Please see MonfilsA-2 MonfilsA-2 MonfilsA-2 Upcoming testimonyA-2 testimonyA-2 testimonyA-2 Wednesday's highlightsA-2 highlightsA-2 highlightsA-2
