A Sad Death. Mrs. Ann Chalkley, wife of Mr Thomas n. Chalkley, of the Watkins Mortgage company, died 1atFrdav at 6 SO, in Kansas City at the Scurritt hospital, where she went last Sunday to undergo a surgical operation. The operation was performed Wednesday morning, and the patient seemed to be getting along nicely until next day. The family had been here only a short time, having arrived from England England last fall, and it seems peculiarly sad that death should have come so soon afterwards, away from native laud, relatives and friends. Although Mrs. Chalkley Lad not lived in Lawrence long, those who became became acquainted with her had learned to love her, and the news of her death will be received with deep sorrow ard call forth genuine sym pathy for the bereaved family. Mrs Chalkley leaves, besides her husband, two exceptionally bright and attractive children, a boy and girl. The remains were brought Here from Kansas City, and the fun erai took place at the house, No 722 New Hampshire street, on Monday Monday afternoon, at half-past half-past half-past two 'clock.
