Oats-Harris Melinda Michelle Harris of Clardy and Allen Shane Oats of Charleston were married in a double ring ceremony Saturday August 12,1995, at East Paris Baptist Church in Paris with the Rev. Rickey Hayes officiating. The bride is the daughter of David and Mary Harris of Clardy. She is the granddaughter of Alvin and Viola Harris of Clardy and Virginia Waggoner and the late Otis Waggoner of Reno. The groom is the son of Ms. Darlene Oats of Charleston and Mickey Oats of Cooper. He is the grandson of Opal Watkins and the late T. J. Watkins and Syble Oats and the late Burney Allen Oats of Cooper. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a floor length gown of bridal satin designed and created by her mother. It was fashioned in a fitted bodice with a Queen Ann neckline, cutout back and short puff sleeves. The sleeves and bodice were adorned with lace appliques beaded with pearls and sequins. The full skirt enhanced with lace cut out panels and lace scalloped hem extended to a cathedral train. The fingertip veil was attached to a tiara of pearls. The wedding music was provided by Neva Oats and soloist Ron Howard. Attending the bride as her Matron of Honor was her sister Carolyn Parson of Direct. Bridesmaids were Robin Duley of Paris, Crystal Womack of Blossom and Melissa Spears of Clardy. Flower girls were Brittany Harris of Clardy, sister of the bride and Katelyn Parson of Direct niece of the bride. ' Chad Oats of Commerce served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Ronald Hayes of Paris, Roy Lee Jackson of Charleston and Montie Parson of Direct, brother-in-law of the bride. Ushers were Michael Overstreet and Harry Crawford. Ringbearers were Montana Parson of Direct, nephew of the bride and Russell Hayes of Paris. Candlehghter was Steven Harris, brother of the bride. Serving at the register was Michelle Gaither, cousin of the bride. The bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages were created by Carolyn Parson, sister of the bride. Members of the housepany were Jennifer Harris of Clardy, Lezlie Fendley, Sheila Ensey and Vickie Davis of Paris and Shelly Oats of Commerce and Delores Jackson of Charleston. Following a wedding trip to San Antonio, the couple will live in Paris. A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's mother, was held at Rocking W Barbecue Friday evening. The bride is a 1990 graduate of Prairiland High School, a 1993 graduate of Paris Junior College and a 1995 graduate of East Texas State University with a bachelor's of business administration. She is employed by Cherry Street Manor as an office manager. The groom is a 1989 graduate of Cooper High School. He attended Paris Junior College with an agriculture scholarship. He is employed by Bolton Chevron and Bomart, Inc. in Paris.
