INCH OFF FINGER. J. F. Bertalot Loses Part of Member in Sausage Grinding Machine at Schulz'. J. F. Bertalot, who is manager of the meat department at P. A. Schulz' ,store, lost an inch of the middle finger on his right hand yesterday afternoon during the operation of the sausage grinding machine. Mr, Bertalot was cleaning the machine, which is operated by electric power, and thoughtlessly 'reached for a scrap of meat near tho edge. In an instant the finger was drawn in^o the machine and was badly lacerated lacerated when he pulled the hand out by sheer force or else the whole member member would have been ground up. Ho hurried to the office of Dr. Fair and the finger was dressed. Mr. Bertalot will be laid up for several weeks, and he does not regret the loss of the time so much as he does the fact that during his long experience experience in the meat business this is his flrst accident, and lie lias been following this occupation in Freeport Freeport for seventeen years.
