Crash claims life of elderly man in Jacksonville 79-year-old Clune man was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 9:55 a.m. Monday in Jacksonville, one of three traffic accidents reported today by police. The summary: JACKSONVILLE — State police said William Thompson Jr., 79, of Clune was fatally injured when he pulled from Mclntyre Road into the path of a westbound truck operated by Roger Ewing, 37, of Punxsutawney Punxsutawney RD 4. According to Chief Deputy Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker, Thompson died from blunt force trauma. He said the Ewing truck crashed into the driver's side of the Thompson truck. Police said Ewing was injured and transported to Indiana Hospital by Citizens Ambulance Service. A hospital hospital spokesperson said Ewing was treated and released. (See photos on pages 4 and 13). Aultman and Saltsburg fire personnel personnel were dispatched to the scene. Policesaid damage to the Thompson truck was severe and moderate to Ewing's truck which ended up about a foot from the side of The Golden Pheasant tavern. Robin A. Dudek of Arcadia was slightly injured and treated as an outpatient at Indiana Hospital following following a two-vehicle crash at the Sixth and Locust streets intersection in Indiana at 7:32 a.m. on Monday, Indiana Borough Police said. According to police, the Dudek vehicle and one operated by Dewayn Miner of 158 Douglas St., Commodore, Commodore, collided. Damage was listed as moderate.
