JIT. CLEMENS. The Man Who Was Whipped in the Dark Will Bore for Gas. Mt. Clemens, July 29. Although strenuous strenuous efforts have been made to clear up the mystery surrounding the adventure of William Lehner Sunday night, the affair is as mysterious as ever. On that evening he received a note purporting to have been written by Mr. North, one of the owners of the Original bath house, in which Mr. Lehner is bookkeeper, asking him to come to the office immediately. He complied, and upon 'entering in the dark was assaulted assaulted bi' some" person or persons unknown, but escaped after being severely pommeled. Mr. North denies writing the note, he being on the friendliest terms with Mr. Lehner. It is thought the whole affair will be made plain in a few days.
