noon Edwin Miss Promenade and Son of Centralian , Killed on April CENTRALIA, Mo., May 16 -Thomas' -Thomas' Spurlmg, northeast of Centralia, has received word' of the death of his son, Pfc. James Weldon Spurling, which occurred April 28 in. the European theater of; war. Pfc. Spurling, who was 20 years old, was one of five Audrain county men, all of the Quartermasters Corps, reported reported missing or killed on April 28, the date on which Pfc. L. Hudson of Moberly, also of the Quartermasters Corps, was reported reported missing. Before entering service two years ago, Pfc. s Spurling was employed employed by the Western Union Columbia, and he* also worked the Harbison Walker Refractories at Vandalia. His mother, Mrs. Francis Bentley, lives in ' His grandmother, Mrs. Zella Spurling, resides northeast of Centralia, and his maternal grandmother; Mrs. Goldie Clark, -resides' in Columbia.
