Malinda Volkmann bride of Robert Achterberg Malinda Volkmann and Robert Achterberg were united in marriage at the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, in a ceremony officiated by Pastor John David Murdock. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Volkmann of LaVernia, TX. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Achterberg, Rt. 1, Seguin. The church altar was decorated with pink, blue and yellow carnations and greenery. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown with a short train. It was fashioned out of crepe covered with rosebud lace. She chose a fingertip veil of lace accented with pearls and she carried a white orchid attached to a lace covered Bible. Serving as maid of honor was the groom's cousin, Shirley Hacker of LaVernia. Bridesmaids were Doris Voight of Gonzales and Severely Parsons of Adkins. The maid of honor wore a yellow crepe dress with spaghetti straps covered with bouquet material. Her accessories included a matching floppy hat, shoulder cape, and a bouquet of yellow daisies. The bridesmaids dressed in similar outfits of blue and pink. Willmann fam ily gathers for reunion Approximately 90 members representing every branch of the Willmann family were present at the Willmann Family Reunion, held on Sunday, June 11, at The Seguin Coliseum. Registration began at 9:30 a.m. under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Duwayne Willard. Mrs. Maynard Kolb, president, presided over the meeting. Rev. B. C. Schmidt of Austin gave the morning service. Master of Ceremonies was Kenneth Tiemann of Austin. Mr. 0. A. Willmann also of Austin gave the invocation. Roland Willmann read the memorials. A delicious barbeque dinner was served at noon. After the dinner, a business meetting was held and it was decided that the next Willmann reunion would be held in Mason in June of 1979. Mrs. Mary Rose Glenewinkel served as secretary. David and Raymond Willmann made up the nominating committee. During the afternoon, familiar songs were sung. Mrs. Rudy Willmann of Port Lavaca and Mrs. Joe Fleming played the piano. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Willmann and family of Indiana traveled the farthest to the reunion. Rev. B. C. Schmidt gave the closing prayer. The groom's sister, Kathy Achterberg, served as flower girl, and Jason Volkmann, the bride's nephew from San Antonio was ring bearer. Eddie Cuvelier was the best man. Groomsmen were Emil Cuvelier and Michael Real, the bride's cousin from Adkins. Kenneth Wieding was the organist and presented "The Lord's Prayer" and "There is Love". A blue polyester dress was chosen by the bride's mother. The long-sleeved dress was designed with buttons down the front and was accented by silver accessories. The groom's mother wore a pink dress with a matching jacket. A reception followed the wedding in the Parish hall of the church. The family's dinner table was decorated with pink, blue and yellow daises and greenery. The bride's cake was a three- tiered confection adorned with pink, blue and yellow flowers and a bride-and-groom decoration on top. The groom's cake was a German chocolate cake made by Mrs. Stanfield Volkmann. Serving the cake were Linda Schweers, and Doralee Real, both aunts of the bride, Ella Mae Wolff and Lucy Brown. The couple, who spent their wedding trip at Indianola beach, plans to make ther home in Seguin. The groom, a 1976 graduate of Seguin High School and is currently employed at SMI. The bride is a prospective 1979 graduate of LaVernia High School. Out of town guests were from San Antonio, Seguin, Fredericksburg, and other surrounding areas.
