Lewis, alias Eddie Sanders John Lilly, conducted his o w defense. Hi? challenged f' v e Jurors and took the stand to deny the charges. He was convicted of obtaining S44 from E. H. Fisher, WashinS- ton county planter, on the to move 'a family from the Sam Williams plantation. 3 miles east of Shelby, to the Fisher place. Lewis was traced through Selective Service records. Lewis is under two other indictments charging him with obtaining money from Washington county planters through a ruse having families wishing to locate on their plantations.
