At the close of the business meeting the group went to the Mt. Vernon Public Library where they were given a warm welcome by the librarian, Mrs. Mildred Metcalf, who gave an address on the subject, "Using Your Library." Library." Mrs. Metcalf gave a very complete, interesting, and informative informative account of everything pertaining pertaining to the library, including its references, exhibits and audio visuals. visuals. At the end of the address, the group was taken on a tour of the library. Mrs. Metcalf pointed out things of special interest in the different departments. She explained explained the card file index and told how the library patron may find where to locate any desired information or any book. She also explained very carefully how to use the Readers' Guide to Periodi cal Literature in locating articles that have appeared in magazines Everyone then went to the base ment to see a film. The film showed some very excellent pictures pictures of Dr. Andy Hall taken on his ninetieth birthday. Two books were presented to the library by the Joel Pace Chapter, namely, "The China Story," by Freda Utley and "The Cry Is Peace" by Louis F. Bu nenz. The group left the library with a renewed respect for Mt. Ver non's very well-kept and well organized organized library and with a greatly increased knowledge of the serv ices it renders. Following the library tour everyone everyone returned to Mrs. Hancock's home for the social hour. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. J. R Bellah, Miss Peggy Carey, Mrs L. L. Phemister and Mrs. Russell Russell Winn. Birthday Parry For Orvlile Gaston Orville Gaston, of Cartter, celebrated celebrated his 87th birthday Sunday at the home of his granddaughter, 1 Mrs. Walter Ray Randall. Forty- one friends and relatives visited with Mr. Gaston during the day. Nautilus Chapter D.C.I. Meets The Nautilus Chapter of the Dale Carnegie Club International met Thursday evening for a dinner dinner meeting at the L. and N. Cafe with vice president, Norman Jun kins presiding. Howard Phillips and Evelyn Motzer were in charge of the program program for the evening. Prepared talks were given in the general topic of "Hats." This included an amazing variety on the subject ranging from what the hat was for to personal experiences surrounding surrounding a hat. Impromptu talks were given on the subject of "Voting." During the business meeting reports reports were given by those attending attending the Benton Conference last month and plans were made to attend the Division Conference to be held at French Lick on April 19-20.
