Names Community Fair Committees at WoodRivef WOOD RIVER, Sept. 10.—Mrs. Ralph Vote, general chairman, named the committee which will take charge of the second annual Community Fair to be sponsored here by the Women's Club Oct. 7-9. The 1 action was taken at the meeting of the organisation in Wood River School auditorium Tuesday night. During the entertainment which followed the business meeting Miss Velora Buscher. talked on Germany, France, and Switzerland, Miss Grace Darling gave a resume ol her travels in Holland, Scotland, and England, and Miss Elizabeth Parks lectured on Algiers, Italy, and Brussels. ' Over a radio installed In the auditorium the Women's Olub listened to Miss Maud Mueller of this city as she sang over radio station WGN, Chicago. The club voted to send a letter of endorsement to the station In behalf of Miss Mueller. The organization also voted to purchase an electric grill for Us kitchen in the school buildlqg. Following are the committees appointed for the. Community Pair: Finance—Mrs. Leonard Schmidt. Building and Grounds—Mrs. Rodger Holcomb. Tickets—Mrs. S. A. Montgomery, chairmad; Mrs. Robert Parks. Fashion Show—Mrs. M. E. Emmons. White Elephant — Mrs. Paul Schleeper, Mrs. Frank aalnor. Refreshments—Mrs. C. H.. Smith, chairman ;Mrs. William Fenrose. Club Booth—Mrs. O. O. Tlpton. Publicity—I. W. Jolly, 0. P. Hall, Loyal Palmer, Mrs. M. P, Manning, Mrs. O. G. Tipton. Purchases—Mrs. I. W. Jolly, Mrs. C. M. Smith, Mrs. William Fen- rose, exercises for the new church building. The Rev. O. L. Markman of East 8t. Louis preached the sermon of the everting, and several ministers from various local churches were in attendance. Miss Rosalind Hoehn of the East Alton-Wood River Community High School music department sang a solo, and was accompanied by Mrs. Harry Hanson, The choir Samuel of the church furnished additional -- music. ScouU Tell of Experience Wood River Girl Scouts of Troop No. 1 related their vacation experiences at the first meeting of the season held Tuesday. The girls played games and sang the scout songs. The trdop accepted an invitation from troop No. a, for a hike and watermelon feast in Vaughn's woods, Friday evening after school. This \B the treat which is being given by Troop No. 2 to Troop No. 1, loosers In the Scout picnic athletic contest. Dramatic Club Begins Year Bt. Barnard's Dramatic Club held its first meeting of the season Monday night. At this meeting the following offcers were elected for the coming year. President, Stephen Dvorchak; vice president, Jack Gainer; secretary, Mary Maloney; treasurer, Ralph Hankhaus; reporter, Loraine Clasby. The following new members were taken into the club: Mrs, A. Werre, Mrs. Clare Ditto, Mrs. Lloyd Carter, Mrs. M. A. Rodgers, Mrs. C. E. Maguire, and Mrs. Fred Berry. new officers wUl be installed at the next meting, which will be held Sept. 22, Tot Luck Supper For Eastern Star The Eastern Star Lodge will give a pot luck supper at the Odd Fellows' hall on Thursday evening. This will be followed by the regular meeting of the chapter, after which a social time will be enjoyed. Mrs. Herman Wuestenfeld was hostess to the members of'her club at her homo on Eighth street Tuesday afternoon with bunco.
