of the ation in payment Manasco Gets Half Million Dollar USHA Appropriation For Ala. E. Washington, D. C. -- Representative Manasco ,of the Seventh Alabama District, declared Friday that the Federal Works Agency, through the United States Housing Authority, shortly would make available $1,000,000 for the con- struction'of rural houses in Alabama. Manasco said he had been in consultation with Nathan Straus, administrator of USHA, and has assisted in the formation of a local authority in Alabama to the funds when they are formally allotted to the state. Manasco listed 10 counties that would receive half the money available to the state, or $500,000. .They are Fayette, Choctaw, Greene, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston. The county housing authorities of those counties have formed themselves ,Manasco explained, into a coordinated group which administer the program. Strauss approved the grouping of the 10 counties in a letter to Manasco, Just how the remaining $500,000 would be distributed noe be learned officially, but it was understood that a considerable amount of the money would be spent in Mobile - and neighboring counties and also in Houston and neighboring counties.
