State Legislator Addresses Wood River Woman's Club DR. F. M. LEEVEK. Leever Heads School Board At Wood River WOOD RIVER— Dr. F. M. Leever, recently re-elected to the board of education for School District 144, was named board president and Foreman Dykeman, secretary, at a rcorganizatlonal meet staged Monday at the high school. Dr. Leever has served longer than any other board member for the high school anrt now begins his sixteenth year. H'e will serve as president his fifth time and has been secretary twice. He was instrumental in construction of the new addition in 1936 and purchasing of seven acres for Memorial Stadium. Other board members are Harry Ringering, East Alton, and Hugh Manahan, Hartford. WOOD RIVER — Orville Hodge, slnVe representative, talked and a mlxetl ensemble of 14 high school students which won first place in a district song meet and will go to state, entertained the Wood River Woman's Club, Tuesday evening, nt Wood River School. Directed by Miss Vera Jones ol East Alton-Wood River Community High School, the songsters were John Di Paoli, Dwane Bruns, Joan Newcomb, Joyce Wells, Donna borzlne, Pat Mitchell, Joyce Schrum, Fred Obermiller, Ernest Mahoney, Richard Thompson, Ronnie Gllworth, Lloyd Eden, Rltn Hollnday, and Ella Mae Jennings. Accompanist was Thelma Edgar. During the business session, delegates to the state and district meetings in April and May were named. State delegates include Mrs. J. Palmer Hawkins, and Mrs. Karl Fulp with Mrs. E. L. Kimmel as alternate. It will be staged in Chicago May 9-11. District delegates for an East St. Louis meet, April 28, are Mrs. J. Palmer Hawkins, Mrs. Karl Fuli>, Mrs. H. C. Stovor, Mrs. E. B. Gil Us and Mrs, C. J. Fahnestock with alternates being Mrs. E. L. Kimmel, Mrs. Carl Kayser, Mrs. S. W. Bauer, Mrs. S. E. Cahoon and Mrs. A. C. Hunt. New members accepted into the club include Mrs. Clarence Hay, Mrs. Charles Albright, Mrs. R. A. Richards and Mrs. Paul Collins as well as former Junior Woman's Club members, Mrs. Charles Sum mers, and Mrs. Vernon Hoeche. Mrs. F. J. Manning and Mrs. H. T. Nichols were program chairmen nnd hostesses were Mrs. V. L. Brave, Mrs. F. W. Bauer, Mrs. Joseph Bund, Mrs. L. Brummer Mrs. J. W. Braden, Mrs. H. J. Borgstedt, Mrs. T. W. Bolds, Mrs. F. G. Binger, Mrs. Fred Berry, and Mrs. Joo Barker. Mrs. Berry presided at the ten table decorated with red roses and white candles. Next meeting will be at the Lincoln School gymna' sium, April 25, with the East Alton Woman's Club in a joint concert.
