CountyOrganizationCared For 406 Children, Report Shows , BDWARDSV1LLB, April 30.* (Special.)—Contributions totalling $3,478.85 have been handled by the Illinois Children's Home and Aid Society in Madison county during the year Just ended, Miss Helen Messlnger, county representative, reported at the society's annual dinner for Madison county Monday night Of the total »183.91 came from parents of children but the largest part came from an Alton donor. Receipts for the year totalled $6,335.14. In 1834, 406 children were under supervision In Madison county, some remaining in their own homes and.88 in foster homes, the report showed. The work of the society Is financed through vofcoitary contributions of Individuals, by gifts from special groups, allotments from community chests, and a small endowment fund. In Madison county a limited amount is contributed by the county toward the support of each child committee through the county court. Dr. Groves B. Smith of Alton was elected chairman; Mrs. M. P. Manning of Wood River, vice chairman; Mrs. L. C. Helm of Edwardsville, treasurer, and Mrs. Jeanne Relsen- my of Granite City, was re-elected secretary. President Paul L. Thompson of Shurtleff college, State's Attorney M. L. Geers or Edwardsville, and C. V. Williams, state superintendent for the Illinois Children's Horn* and Aid Society, addressed meeting. , The society's Madison coun.. headquarters Is <n the county probation officer's quarters.
