Beauties May Withdraw From Miss World Contest as Protest LONDON (UPI) - The Indian government ordered Miss India today to withdraw from the Miss World beauty contest in protest against South Africa's racial policies. ' Miss India, Naina Balsaver, was ordered to drop out because India wished to "disassociate" itself from an event that sanctioned South Africa's policies of racial separation, an Indian High Commission spokesman said. South Africa has a double entry in the Miss World contest — a black contestant and a white contestant. Three other nations have withdrawn contestants anti-apartheid group, Chris De Broglio told reporters that 10 other contestants . were poised to pull out of the contest Miss Swaziland, Zanella Tshabalala !and Miss Mauritius AriheLiSe: Lesur withdrew from the contest Sunday at the request of their governments. Contest organizer Julia Morley said the withdrawal was requested, "until such time as there is one representative from South Africa, selected on a multiracial basis."
