Skean Launches Own Firm as Funeral Director Ronald T. Skear, 404 High >treet, ended a partnership in the undertaking profession and started a firm in his own name > esterday. Skean began a partnership In 1954 with Wesley O Harley, but Harley died two years after the agreement and his half of thc business went to Mrs. Alice New- 't°n. who worked at thc funeral home 27 years, Mrs. Newton, 12 South Franklin street, continued the partnership of Harley and Skean for three years. Slate law, however, requires that funeral homes be named only for those who operate the business, so the partnership ended last Thursday, Jeremiah Gilbert, North Wash- ington street. Skean will con- tinue to operate at 404 High r * Mrs. Newton is the mother- in-law' of Skean and sold her business interest to him yesterday. The firm was started 30 years ago by Harley, who learned the funeral business fiom the late street.
