Teach Them to Spell. The Elba (Ala.,) Clipper has the following suggestions for the benefit of the school teachers: If we had to make a big and good speech to a teachers' institute in very few words we'd sa': "Teach your pupils howr to spell: teach them how to read, teach them how to write. Most pupils are not being taught these things because their teachers are so busy teaching them phonography, and things ab-absolutely inadequate to hide from view their illiteracy. 1 here are too manv poor readers and writers and snellers amoner the teachers. Give us less methods and a little more of the real thing."
