TUESDAY MORNIM;, FEBRUARY 23, 1954. Crash Hurts 5, One Seriously as Five persons were injured, one seriously, when their automobile struck two utility poles, a fence, a fireplug, and a tree at 2:40 a.m. yesterday on Oak near 2Sth. The driver, Paul R. Jarboe, 21, of 2203 S. Seventh, was in serious condition in General Hospital with a skull fracture and internal injuries. Police said passengers in the car told them Jarboe lost control of the car as he reached, for a cup of coffee. Jarboe and the others had stopped at a restaurant a few minutes earlier, and had taken coffee with them, according to police. Others in the car were Miss Noel Doby, 21, of 426 Atwood; Edgar M. Chappell, 29, of 1452 Hemlock; James R. Sayre, 26, of 3419 Sherrill, and Miss Delores Bennett, 21, of 2638 Woodland. They received minor cuts and bruises. Miss Christine Meyer, 75, of 835 E. Chestnut, suffered broken legs at 6:50 a.m. yesterday when she was struck by an automobile in the 1400 block of Bardstown Road. She was taken to General Hospital. The driver of the car was Chris A.
