George F. Vieth Dies At 43; City Clerk, Recreation Chief; Funeral To Be Held Monday Services will be held Monday for George F. Vieth, 1909 Scott St., Covington , City Clerk and Recreation Director, who died late Thursday night at St. Elizabeth Hospital. , Mr. Vieth went to the hospital Wednesday to undergo an opera, tion. He had suffered an attack of pneumonia several months ago, but had returned to his office recently. . Mr. Vieth, who was 4.1 years old, entered the city employ in 3940 as a purchasing agent and retained that post until 1944. In 1946 he became secretary to R. E. Culbertson, then Mayor Pro Tern. Appointed City Clerk and Recreation Director in January, 1947, he established the Recreation Recreation Department and was instrumental instrumental in expanding the playground playground and recreation program. Under his direction many organizations organizations were formed to supervise playground activities. Mr, Virth was graduate of Holy Cross High School, Latonia, and was a member of Covington Aerie of Eagles. He took an active active part in the National Association Association of City Clerks. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Alice Vieth; three sons, John. Fort Mitchell, and Charles s,id Robert Vieth, Covington: three daughters, Mary Rita Vieth, Fort Mitchell, and Eileen and Mary Frances Vieth, Covington: his parents, - Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vieth, Covington: two brothers, Ralph and Joseph Veith Jr., Covington; Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Keman, Covington, and Mrs. Au- Au- CEOKfiE F. VIETH. gusia Orth, Bellevue, and two grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 8:30 a. m. Monday from the Connlry Brothers funeral horn", Requiem High Mass will he sung at 9 a. nC at Mother of God Church. Cov-lngton, Cov-lngton, Cov-lngton, Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery. City Manager Edward B. Abbett yesterday appointed Mrs. Sidney Green, clerk-stenographer, clerk-stenographer, clerk-stenographer, as acting acting City Clerk, until the vacancy caused by Mr. Vleth's death is filled.
