at Alumnae Group Has Area Dinner Randolph-Macon Woman's Cojlege alumnae and the college president, Dr. William F. Quillian Jr.. entertained friends of the college in this area at dinner on Wednesday evening at the Charlotte City Club. Mrs. I. Crier Wallace Jr., of Charlotte, area chairman ol the alumnae drive for the college endowment fund program, presided and introduced Dr.- Quillian as speaker. Mr. C. C. Herbert ' Jr., of the Myers Park Methodist Church, and Dr. Edwin R. Walker, president of Queens College, were honoi guests and participated in the program. In his talk, the college president emphasized three areas into which HantMph-Macon's training might be classified These are keyed by the^ terms "competence," "balance," anc "inner faith." First, a "competence" based upon superior academic preparation; second, a "balance" which maintains perspective through life; and third an "inner faith" which provides staying power and guidance. Dr. Quillian's remarks open new phase in Randolph-Macon' development campaign througl its alumnae groups. The collcg Is seeking financial support fo the first time on a natlon-widi basis. Increasing expansion funds, demands fo for increasec faculty salaries, and for a more] far-reaching program lor stu- dent scholarship aid require a financial re- strengthening of sources. * * * •
