Obituary for Chester Toms
Chesfer Toms WINNEBAGO-Chester Toms of Winnebago, a former Seward farmer for 40 years, died today in his home following a short illness. Mr. Toms lived 10 years in Winnebago coming from Seward Seward where he had lived 55 years. He was a charter member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau and was employed as custodian of First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago until the time of his death. He was born Sept. 22, 1889, in Knoxville, Md., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Toms. On Dec. 9, 1913, he married Lydia Moses in Seward. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Cornelius Hieronimus Hieronimus of Seward; three grandchildren; grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. great-grandchild. A son and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Presbyterian Church at Winnebago, of which Mr. Toms was a member. The Rev. William Butler pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. • . Friends may call at the Knapp Funeral Home in Pecatonica from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
