(Slippery Jim) Cnshway. today faced l i f e imprisonment in Marionette branch prison, one of many penal institutions that proved incapable of holding him on previous occasions. Tie was .sentenced Thursday by cuit Judge William H. Martin as habitual criminal after he changed his pica from innocent to guilty on n fourth oflen.se charge. Cushway's long list of escapes prompted Snginmv sheriff's officers to take extra precautions to insure his Â· delivery at the northern prison. The regular bavs and locks on his cell augmented last night by n chain across the steel door. In ndrtllion to the Marqueltc prison, Cushivay has marie his way freedom from the Southern Michigan prison and from penitentiaries in V/iscon.sin and Minnesota as well as number of jails. He was captured in Kansas City recently after escaping from jail here November 24 while awaiting trial for burglary.
