CHARLES KIKER, who directs the band out at Amarillo College, is one of those fellows who isn't happy unless he is waving his In front of a group of enthusiastic musicians, with the oomp-pahs coming out loud and in -vmppy cadence. Moreover, he believes that, no community ought to be without a band for parades. ,ark concerts, picnics nnd the like. That is why Mr. Kiker has trying to promote a civic band, built around Ills college group. There are, he says, enough band musicians in Amarillo to form n good 50-picce outfit. The musicians' union, the Philharmonic orchestra, the school board and other organ- izations have given their blessing. All that's needed, says Band Lead- er Kiker, is for the musicians to show up for rehearsal. He'd like them to get in touch w i t h at the college. ·V- -f. if. i MR.
