Pence, ono of the bent k n o w n of Kt. Warren, will retire Oct 31 his own request, according to an announcement made yesterday. Promotion lo captain was made Jnn. 23, 1021, nml major on July 1U38. -Major Pence was born in Nebraska Nov. 20, 1880, but when he was one year of ajio his parents moved to Merino, now Upton, Wyo.
