Stephan De'ak performance
on Strong Work to Be Heard Dr. Gerald Slrang, chairman chairman of the City College music department, will be one of seven American composers represented in a c h a music concert scheduled for T h u r s d a y at 8:30 Hancock Auditorium on the University of Southern California California campus. The program is co-sponsored by USC and the American Composers Alliance. Alliance. Dr. S t r a n g's "Variations for Four Instruments," one of his most recent compositions, compositions, will be performed by Archie Wade, flute: Norman Benno, oboe; Myron Sandier, viola; and Stephen De'ak, cello. The same piece will be played in another concert at UCLA on Nov. 23, this time by a wood-wind quintet with five instruments dividing the four solo parts. Dr. Strang's "Three Whitman Whitman Excerpts" for a cappella chorus will be performed during during the 10th annual music festival of the Institute of Contemporary American Music Music at the University of Hartford on Nov. 24-25. This year's festival features the work of Western American composers.
