I MRS. HEUMAN GURGEL WONEWOC, Wis. (Special)— Mrs. Herman Gurgel, 62, wife of the principal of St. Paul's Lutheran School, died Friday. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Wonewoc, the Rev. W. E. Schulz officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Mrs. Gurgel, as Flora Pohll, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Pohll, was born Sept. 4, 1889, at Milwaukee. She served as a teacher in Lutheran schools at Oshkosh and Kenosha. She was married in Kenosha Aug. 19, 1913, to August Gurgel, who survives her. Also surving are three sons, the Rev. Karl Gurgel, Caledonia, Minn.; Ernest, Milwaukee, and the Rev. Roland, New Ulm, Minn.; three daughters. Mrs. Oscar (Margaret) Lindemann, Manitowoc, Mrs. Wilmar (Marie) Bode, Courtland, Minn., and Mrs. Earl (Doris) Picha, Viroqua; Her mother, Mrs. August Pohll, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Walter, Chioquin, Ore. and Oliver, Portland, Ore., anc Norman of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. George Borchers Sherwood, Ore , and Mrs. Car Fields, Portland, Ore.; and 18 grandchildren. A son, Lt. Herman Gurgel, a member of the United States Air Force, was killed in action while flying over Kassel, Germany July 28, 1943.
