THURSDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 18, 1954 'Morgan Youth, With Fine 4-H Club Record, Wi || Attene j National Congress in Chicago Kn- t u d e n t : Shcrr, Barker MORGAN -- Gene Winchester, a member of the Morgan County 4-H Club and local chapter of FFA. will leave Friday, Nov. 26. for Chicago to attend the national 4-H Club Congress. He will represent Utah as the state winner in the National Dairy Achievement Contest which is sponsored by the national com- · mitee on 4-H work of Chicago. He will be accompanied on the trip by Kaye Winters, state demonstrator, and other Utah 4-H winners, He is the 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Winchester of Mountain Green. Won Rating He began his 4-H work when only 10 by showing a Jersey calf he was given for doing chores on the farm. He entered the calf at the state f a i r and won an "A" rating. He has won several slock show- prizes and has appeared on television eight times w i t h prize-win- n i n g heifers. He has also had published in a d a i r y magazine a story he had w r i t t e n , and the past s u m m e r was elected mayor of t h e 4-H c a m p at Losan. i His w i n n i n g ribbons total f o u r . : c h a m p i o n s h i p s . 49 firsts, 27 sec! onds. 14 thirds, two f o u r t h s , live ' f i f t h s , two sixths and three sev- ; enths. : A g r a d u a t e of Morgan High ' School, he is a t t e n d i n g the U t a h State Agricultural College on a scholarship he won in h i g h . school. Gene Winchester Sunday School union meeting will be held Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the Morgan Stake House. Morgan High School's a n n u a l Thanksgiving Day dance w i l l be held Wednesday in the h i g h school g y m n a s i u m , u n d e r tho d i - rection 'of the yearbook s t a f f . P u b l i c is i n v i t e d , and admission will be SI per couple. Morgan Elementary School is observing National Book Week by displaying library books and e n c o u r a g i n g the students from the t h i r d grade up to take a d v a n - tage of the l i b r a r y . LaVar K r u m p . principal, said the school has recently purchased books, which have been given the Newherry and Caldecott medals for this year. Louis Christensen. Mrs. Celeste Durrani, and Mrs. Beulah Butters. Morgan American Legion and Auxiliary Post No. 67. will be host at the district convention and social to be held Saturday at 8 p.m. in Morgan High School playroom. District nnd state department officers of the Legion and Auxiliary w i l l be present and be served by the local auxiliary. Membership drive for the Morgan VFW auxiliary will begin next week and continue until Dec. 10. Mrs. Beth W a r n e r , auxiliary president, i n v i t e s anyone to join. Those eligible are wives, sisters, d a u g h t e r s , and veterans \\lio have served in foreign countries, or of service now serving in foreign countries.
