Waves Claim Ship Off Isle Royale GRAND MARAIS, Minn UP)—The Great Lakes freighter Henry Steinbrenner foundered and sank in heavy waves off Isle Royale in Lake Superior with 31 aboard early today. Ships in-the vicinity reported sighting a life boat and a raft bearing eight survivors on the wind-whipped water. The Coast Guard station at Grand Mara is reported it had intercepted intercepted radio messages from the steamer Clemson and Sykes in the vicinity of the accident. The message said "have sighted one raft and one life boat with people on them. Not able to pick up yet." Wreckage also was sighted in the area. The Steinbrenner was reported sunk about 15 miles off the southeast southeast shore of Isle Royale, about midway between Isle Royale lighl station and Passage Island at th« northeast tip of the island. The light station is located at the tip of the arm forming Siskiwell Bay.
