OSCAR STAPLETON OF CASSVILLE DIES OF HEART ATTACK Oacar Stapleton, aged 65, of Cassville, died suddenly this Friday Friday morning, March 12, 194.8, as he was en route to his work at the General Refractories brick plant in Mount Union. Stapleton. was stricken about 6:15 o'clock as he walked along- thfc sidewalk near Dr. George Katz'S' office, 72 East Shirley Street, Mount Union. Several men w>1b were en route to their work «t the brick plant saw Stapleton fall to the sidewalk. They hurried to his side and -he told them he was very ill. They, assisted him to th'e office of Dr. Katz, where he .died before medical aid could be given him. He left his home in Cassville at 5:30 this morning to go to his work at Mount Union. v Death was due to an acute heart attack. Coroner E. Blair Shore was notified of the ^sudden death. > He had not been in the best of health for some time, it was learned today, but his condition had not been considered serious. Oscar Stapleton was born August 29, 1882, a son of Abner Stapleton and Sarah (Reiehter) Stapleton, both deceased. He was ngert. at the time of death 65 years, 6 months and IS days. He was united in marriage to Ethel Bumgardner on October 21, 1908. Surviving besides his wife' are one son and one daughter: Clyde Stapleton of Todd and Catherine, wife of Miles Dell- of Latta Grove. Also; surviving are three grandchildren—Dorothy grandchildren—Dorothy Jane, Patricia and Miles Dell, Jr.—and one brother, James H. Stapleton of McConnellstown. Mr. Stapleton was a member of the Cassville Methodist Church, and he had .served Cassville Borough Borough as constable for .a number of years. Familiarly called "Pappy" by his grandchildren, he •w** devoted to his family; he was a. good neighbor and will be sadly missed in the community.
