Miss LovefL Wed In Candlelight Rites A ceremony uniting Miss Syl via Lynell Lovett and Tommy Claude Verner was held in Earth, Tex., recently, with the Rev. Gene Hawkins of First Baptist Church of Lockney, officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Troy L. Lovett Pleasant Hill, N.M, and Tommy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Verner of Meadow, Tex. Alter decorations consisted of white candlelabra with a background of palm leaves behind the white satin kneeling alter. The bride's gown of Peau de soie with lace and pearls surrounding a scalloped neck was attached to a bell shaped skirt that flowed into a full train. She wore the gold wedding band belonging to Mrs. R. L. Bain, her grandmother, as something .Dane will serve as ushers, "old", her wedding dress for something "new", a "borrowed" veil, and the traditional "blue" garter with a silver six-pence from England in her shoe. She carried two white orchids and streamers with feathered mums on top of a Belgian lace covered Bible. Attendants honoring the bride were: Eva Ray Hawkins, Earth, Tex., Maid of Honor; Carolyn Reynolds, Earth; Gwenette Lovett, Canyon, sister of the bride; and Denise Verner, Meadow, sister of the groom as bridesmaids. The attendants wore floor length gowns of aqua satin with scooped necklines and Mr. Don Wilson of Roswell pillbox hats with chin length veils. They each carried a solitary white rose. The grooms attendants were: James Verner, Lubbock, brother o the groom as Best Man; Don Verner, Meadow, brother of the groom; Monte Singleterry of Albuquerque and Jackie Chapter Installs Officers Gamma Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met recently at the home of Mrs. Charles White. After the business meeting members were treated to an evening of art presented by local artist, Yvette Durham, a former member of Gamma Sigma Chapter, who exhibited a collection of paintings, wood carvings and sculpture work done by , ( I artists from the Clovis area Of ^particular interest was a L J handcarved candle holder depicting scenes from the Bible which was carved by Ruth Gore an expert in the art of wood carving. A question and answer period followed the program, and Mrs. Durham invited all mebmers to v-isit Paint N' place where a number of local artists work in -heir spare time. New officers for the coming ••ear were installed by outgoing 'resident Billie Ware, who was presented with the Girl of the t'ear award for her outstanding 1 vork during 1965-66. Refreshments were served by Inid White assisted by Betty .unnels. The next meeting will >e held at the home of Mrs. Don Ware, 120 Highland Drive, on Thursday, May 36th. sang "I Love You Truly" and the "Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Mrs. Larry Tunnell of Earth playing the organ. A reception was held in the Community Center following the wedding. A three-tiered wedding cake topped with the novelty bride and groom was served with punch, at the bride's table. Chocolate cake and coffee was served at the grooms table.
