Montgomery Friend Of 4-H Mrs. Baker By Edith P. Gentry MONTGOMERY CITY- Mrs. Dora Baker received the Friend of 4-H Award at the 4-H Recognition Night, Nov. 2 at the Montgomery Middle School. The award was presented to Mrs. Baker by Mrs. Dorothy Borchelt. This is the second year that the award has been given by the Montgomery County 4-H Council to a person that has been just what the name implies, a friend of 4-H. Mrs. Melvin Hart, president of the Montgomery County 4-H Council, presided at the meeting. Pledge to the American Flag was led by Donna Elsenraat and Donna Knipfelled the pledge to the 4- H Flag. Peggy Oliver was the recipient of the award for the "Outstanding girl over 14" presented by Mrs. Jean Riddle, and Karla Lionberger and Steven Walton received the award for "Outstanding Vandalia Family Needs Clothing NEW INFORMATION has been learned concerning the start of the fire that destroyed the Johnson home last Sunday. The Farm Bureau Cookbook award was received by Sharon Weeks and the Foley Equipment and Cookbook'was presented to Patty Weeks Randy Pohlman and Mary Ella Cobb won the Co-Op Camp awards and Donna Snell and Teresa Handricks won the State Fair Demonstration award given by the Electric Theater presented by Bill Myers. The 4-H Blue Ribbon Secretary Books were given to the Bellflower Boosters, Middletown Meddlers, Montgomery Progressore and Montgomery Star Shiners. These blue ribbons were presented by Mrs. Dora Baker, secretary at the Montgomery County University Extension Center. The Agricultural 4-H awards presented by Fred Vedder were given to the following 4-Her's beef; Kathy Ockerhausen, Cheryl Sommer, Sommer, Amy Vedder, Lani Nobles; agricultural; Randy Hart; Sheep; Carylle Eckler; Dog care; Mark Stevens; Swine; Lorene Cope, Darryl Hensick, Harold Eckler; Woodwork; Wayne Sommers, David Nichols, Neil Meyer, Dorsey Stotler.
