San Joaquin On Rampage, Destroys Kerckhoff Bridge BIG CREEK (Fresno Co.), Dec," 11.---The waters of the Joaquin River went roaring past here at 3-o'clock this afternoon at a rate of 76,300 second feet to establish what is believed be an ail time record for the stream, . mountains Hoaw rains Hie the. the tempi peace, swelled the volume of the stream from about 5,000 second feet early last night to today's record breaking 76^300. causing the destruction of several bridges, the flooding ot one Sen Joaquin Light and Power plant and menace to several other bridges. Strc-t BHAge Topples The sleet bridpe at Power House No. 1 of the power companv at Kerckhoff Lake went out in the torenoon, preventing further traffic from Auberry to Northfork. The floor of the power company plant was flooded to a tlepth of four feet. Big Creek ' was practically isolated due to the drstructiori of bridges by a roaring Hood in creeks of ihe mountain district. Bridges over Pitman and Balsam Creeks were swept away early this afternoon. Balsam Creek is one mile down the" main road from the Big Creek community and Pitman Creek is at the IIKU! cf the e-r.yor.. Road Crew Gat Off Half of a state road crew working in the district was cut of! the town and the other half was marooned in the town.
