Mr and fa noon. of and and Mrs MR AND MRS G R HERRON Elizabeth Anderson and G R Herron who were married May 17, 1917, in Guthrie Center celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary Sunday, May 15. The couple who lived in the Coon Rapids area now , live on a farm in Union Township. The festivities began when the couple and their family attended church services at Trinity Lutheran. Present at the service'were their daughters, Louise and Mildred 'who live withi their parents; Mr and Mrs Howard Herron and Deanna of Cambridge-Joining, them later was Howard's son, Mr and Mrs David Herron, Christopher and Jason of Newton. Members of the family had dinner in the church hall with 100 relatives and friends being served. Ladies of the church served the dinner and later were in charge of arrangements for an open house. These ladies were all presented pink rose corsages made by .Mrs David Herron. In the afternoon about 125 guests were" : j»fcesent" v . ;; lor -.ah"-- open,-house honoring'the couple, liie-guests were greeted' by Mr and Mrs ; Herron, Louise, Mildred and Howard. The ladies wore corsages of blue and white carnations and men in the family had white carnation boutonnieres. These colors were used in the decoration of the hall and at the serving table. Edna Anderson was in charge of the guest book and Mrs Paul Honold received the gifts. David Herron gave a fine presentation, a sketch of the life of the honored couple. It had been compiled by his mother, Eunice Herron. The serving table was covered with a blue cloth with candles flanking a three tiered cake'. This was circled by- four smaller cakes. All were .decorated with blue roses in clusters of three with green small blue flowers on top. tiered cake was centered with , circular figure holding the 60. The cakes were baked, decorated and served by Mae ^HonokL Mrs Ron Jacobsen punch and Mrs Howard Herron, served coffee. Friends and relatives attended from Glidden, Scranton, Fort Dodge, Ames, Jefferson, Cambridge, Elkhart, Ankeny, Des Moines, Greenfield, Atlantic, rieil, Audubon, Walnut, Newton, Coon Rapids, Bayard and Center. Mr and Mrs Duane Fran Chad and Shane of Jamaica entertained at a birthday party Sunday to honor their daughter sister, Tina, on her first - Guests^ included rTina's ents, Mr and Mrs Ralph of Hern don and Alt' and Deardorff of Bagley and her 'grandparents, Mr and Mrs Gruber of Bagley. Additional guests were Claude Hasty of Herndon and Mr and Mrs Hamlin, Stephanie and Heather and Mr and Mrs Steven Jefferson. Having a cooperative dinner the home of Mr and Mrs Rutherford in rural Denison / Mothers day were Mr and Rutherford of Guthrie Center; and Mrs Paul Hay, Sr, Mr Paul Hay, Jr, Mr and Mrs Hay, Sonja and Melissa of and Mr and Mrs Allen Werkmeister, Jamie and Nichole of
