1 Shorts Heads County Firemen Officers Elected By County Association Frank Shorts, of the Oakland elected president of the Venango County Firemen's Association at the monthly meeting of the asso-i'he asso-i'he ciation held in the Cornplanter Township fire hall Wednesday eve ning. Fifty-nine Fifty-nine Fifty-nine members representing 14 of the 19 fire departments in the organization were present for the dinner meeting. Other officers elected to serve during the coming year include: David Thompson, of Rouseville Fire Department; Joe English, of Henry's Bend; and Harry Larri-more, Larri-more, Larri-more, of Emlenton Fire Department; Department; all vice presidents. l nomas &nutistau, oi nocKyiDri Grove Fire Department, secretary: secretary: Arden Fornoff, of Cornplant-er Cornplant-er Cornplant-er Township Fire Department, treasurer. Directors named for the Northwestern Northwestern Pennsylvania Firemen's Association were Frank Shorts and Ed. Ferringer, of the Seneca Fire Department. Chester Van Zandt, of the Rocky Grove Fire Department, will be installed as president of the Northwestern Northwestern Association at the convention convention of the association scheduled in Meadville July 12, 13 and 14. The fire companies present reported reported 22 fires during the previous month. Departments purchased two new out-of-radio units at a price of approxi- approxi- mately $460 each. Half of this amount will be reimbursed under the matching funds provided by the federal government. The trans action is made through the county in order that reimbursement can be made. The next meeting will be held at Cooperstown July 18. Sheriff John E. Cunningham was the guest speaker of the evening. He spoke on the organization and the duties of fire police and on the Civil Defense meeting held recently recently at Conneaut Lake.
