March 1.1 Dr. F. K. Camp Nan Cornwall Virgil R. Sheffer DR. F. K. CAMP, managing owner of the World Famous Brookdale Ixidge, was born on Friday. March 13. at Greenville, Alabama. It seems it wasn't enough to le born on the 13th. but his had to be Friday. The 13th has figured quite a bit in his life. When he took his examination to practice medicine in Illinois his examination number was 13. He finished the examination on Friday the 13th and wrote at the bottom of his paper the above facts, stating that if 13 was a hoodoo he was in for it. Without asking for it, his telephone number is 13. This being the 13th year the doctor has owned and run Brookdale Lodge, he is planning on having some sort of a celebration on Friday, the 13th of August. Dr. Camp came to California in lf)19 from Oklahoma City, where he owned a private hospital. Moved to Brookdale in 1924, running the resort resort until 1!)31 as a summer resort only, but since then he has kept the Lodge open all year with an ever increasing winter tourist business. The doctor's hobby is Crippled Children, Children, and he and his good wife have maintained a Wishing Well for them for several years. The well runs about $600 per year now. The doctor says it costs him $1200 of his time each year to get the $600 thrown into the well, but adds that anyone hav ing a hobby rides it without thinking of the coM. Friends are legion who extend birthday greetings to the Keeper of the Lodge. oOo NAN CORNWELL will be ten years old today, and will have a birthday party with ten little girls as guests, at the home of her parents, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cornwell on the old San Jose road, Soquel. Nan attends Soquel school and her school mates unite with her family in Happy Birthday greetings. oOo VIRGIL R. SIIEIFEK. enterprising enterprising young business man, senior member of the firm, Sheffer Brothers, Brothers, was born in Oklahoma. He came to California in 1918 and was employed by the Redlands Heights Packing company prior to moving to Santa Cruz over a year ago. Sheffer Sheffer brothers handle wood and building building materials. He is a member the Knights of Pythias. TRIPS 01 RUG, Mrs. A. B. Crockett is hospital under treatment for broken legs.
