ANNAPOLIS CADETSHIP. Result of Examination Was An nounced This Afternoon. An unusual amount of interest i being displayed in the examination that are now being conducted at the court house for admission to t.lu United States Naval academy at An napolis. The usual number of candi dates are taking the examinations and as the contest is purely compel, itive local people are awaiting tin result with keen interest. The can didat.es are as follows: Earl H Carpenter, Henry Frey, and Ralpl Spanieling, of Ogle county; .John Thomson, Whiteside county; George Eli Jeanmairet, Carroll county: Ed ward Laphani, Lee county, and Wai tor W. Vautsmeier, Stephenson conn ly. The county superintendents con ducting the examinations are: Emer; r. Neff, Ogle county; B. F. Hen clericks, Whiteside county: John Hay Carroll county; I. F. Edwards, Le county, and Cyrus Grove, Stephensoi county. The candidates are being examine in the following subjects: Reading, writing, punctuation,arithmetic,Unit- ea States history, geometry, algebra, general history, geography, spelling and grammar. Every county in the Thirteenth Congressional district is represented with the exception of Jo Daviess county. All the candidates are splendid young men who have worked hard for the prize. Ralph Spaulding, of Byron, was the successful contestant. Edward Lapham, of Dixon, was named as first alternate and Walter Vauts- meier, of Freeport, as second alternate. alternate.
