Stone & Co.'s coat elevator on Front street, near Parsons (Gardner's old place); eame to his death last evening la a manner as yet only suppositional. Between the hours of eight and nine o'clock he went swimming in the river near the yard, and an hour later Officer Brnnigan found his clothes lying on the bank, with not a sign of their owner. It is supposed that he was taken with cramps while in the water, and that, falling tn-hls tn-hls tn-hls struggle to reach the shore, be was drowned. McCarthy was a middle-aged middle-aged middle-aged man and resided resided at 136 Lock street, where be sustained a wife and family. At a late hour last evening his body had not been found.
