Farmer Acquitted of Murdering Neighbor -i! , ' 0kia -> ^ai'di 27. —(.'ll— Allen Tutt, farmer, was I free today of a charge of murder in connection with the .killing last Dec. 15 of Scott G. Baldwin, n j neighbor. After deliberating 23 hours, a jury in district court here yesterday returned a verdict of acauittal. Tutt and Baldwin, living .southeast .southeast of Frederick, admittedly were rivals for the favor of a woman living in the neighborhood. The evidence showed that a. letter delivered delivered to the woman's husband, S. R. Pixler, warning him of a neighbor's efforts to steal his wife, was intercepted by Mrs. Pixler and delivered to Tutt. Tutt admitted he went to Baldwin's house and accused him of writing the letter, Baldwin admitted it, Tutt said, and when he (Tutt) tried to regain possession of the letter Baldwin advanced on him with an iron bar. Tutt asserted he shot in self-defense. self-defense.
