Mrs. Melvin Scott Discusses Roses at Garden Club Meeting Sixteen members and guest, Mrs. Jessie Tucker were present at the February meeting of the Friendship Garden Club at the home of Mrs. Raymond Barker. Co-hostess was Mrs. Melvin Scott. Mrs. Scott also presented the program, a most interesting and informative discussion on the dos and don'ts_ of cultivating roese for exhibiting. The nominating committee presented the slate of officers for the coming year which were elected by acclamation. They are president Mrs. James Bennett, first vice president Mrs. Wes. Buller, Sr., 2nd vice president Mrs. Fred Buller, secretary Mrs. Melvin Scott, treasurer Mrs. Owen Anderson, reporter Mrs. W. F. Egger and historian Mrs. Frank Wells. The date of April 24th was set for this years flower show. Chairman Mrs. Raymond Barker discussed the show theme "Through The Years With Flowers." The show was planned by Mrs. Barker and her committee of Mrs. Wes. Buller, Sr.. Mrs. Charlie Peck and Mrs. D. L. Martin. Mrs. .1. L. Lang and Mrs. James Bennett plan to attend the District IV meeting in Beaumont on March '1th. The March meeting of the Friendship Garden Club will be held on Wednesday, March llth (instead of the usual Thursday). It will be a workshop in preparation for the show.
