Burial will be m Kearney. Mr. Thornton was named j secretary-manager of the Nebraska Reclamation Assn. in 1950 and has lived in Lincoln since that time. The organization works to expand irrigation in the state. Born at Neligh, he graduated from high school there in 1910. From 1920 to 1926 he was assistant secretary of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Thornton was instrumental in reorganizing the Buffalo County Fair Assn., was past president of the State Assn. of Chamber secretaries, secretary of the Nebraska Division of the Shippers Advisory Board secretary of the Ft. Kearny Memorial Assn. He was chairman of Lincoln's fuel distribution committee during the 1919 coal strike. Surviving are a son, Richard W. of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter, Mary Elaine Wallace of Rushton, La.; sister, Mildred of Neligh, and brother, Stanley W. of Omaha.
